Description

The TAUBER Remote Knowledge Module is an add-on to the systems management software PATROL® by BMC Software. The Knowledge Module is used to remotely monitor Windows and Unix server systems without the need to install any other software on the monitored system, just using standard Windows and Unix interfaces.

A prerequisite is a Windows or Linux system (Linux is supported as Host operating system from version 3.0.60) equipped with a PATROL® Agent and one of the PATROL Consol products. The DNS Servername or IP-Addresses and a privileged user account on the target remote system (on Unix just a none-privileged user!) are required to monitor the remote systems.

After configuring the system with this information, the product periodically collects data as cpu usage, memory usage, disk load, process and the status of processes and Windows services. The data can be processed within all connected event, reporting and notification solutions.

Features of the Knowledge Module

  • Fast and easy installation and configuration
  • no software on the remotely monitored server systems
  • No additional load (CPU / Memory) on the remotely monitored server systems
  • Full integration in all other BMC products (Impact Manager etc.)
  • Supports Windows NT / Windows 2000 / Windows 2003 / 2008 / 2012 /  Linux / Solaris /  HP-UX / AIX now also AIX 5.3 Power Architecture

General Functions Version 3.x.xx

  • New interface for automatically configuring the Knowledge Module (create / delete / configure the monitoring!).
  • Servermaintenance mode (stops and resumes the monitoring of systems quickly and simply!).
  • Remote KM Cluster function for higher availability of the monitoring (install a second KM instance to check the primary instance and take over monitoring if primary instance fails)
